About the role:

Smooth Commerce is looking for a Senior Android Developer to join our Toronto team. As a Senior Android Developer at Smooth Commerce, you will be responsible for the development of new features, enhancements and bug fixes for the company’s mobile product offerings on the Android platform. You will be responsible for understanding and estimating effort for new feature requirements from both internal and external stakeholders and implementing those requirements in an agile development framework.

What will you be doing?

  • Provide estimates on new features and bug fixes
  • Implement pixel-perfect UX designs provided by design team on Android
  • Collaborate with the QA team to develop automated functional tests for new features and enhancements
  • Collaborate with the backend team to understand and consume platform APIs, and to suggest modifications where appropriate
  • Provide input on best practices and architecture improvement

 What are we looking for?

  • 3+ years of professional experience developing software for Android using Java and Kotlin
  • In-depth understanding of core development concepts, including OOP and memory management
  • Experience with API/Network Communications, as well as plugin support
  • Front end / GUI exposure/ interest
  • Experience with unit-testing.
  • High standard of quality in coding practices
  • Keen personal interest in computer science and programming in general
  • Ability to work proactively, both independently and as a team member
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working with continuous integration pipeline, especially on a multi tenant (white labelled) application is a bonus
  • Experience writing and maintaining automated UI tests, along with dependency injection and data mocking frameworks is a bonus
  • Bonus points for experience with other platforms or frameworks, such as iOS, React Native and Flutter
  • Local candidates to our Toronto office only (we are currently working from home but will eventually be back in office).
